Brown has already showed that he means business at the very top of the sport. The pair are very much part of the future of darts!
Cullen said: “I am honoured that Unicorn have shown faith in me for another three years. I am determined to make the most of the opportunity. I am 25 now and it’s about time that I took my game to the next level.”
Brown was equally pleased by his new deal. “I have been with Unicorn since I was 14 (he is 22 next month!) It is a brilliant working relationship but also a great friendship.”
Cullen was brutally honest about his game. “I had a shocking start to 2014. It really hurt me but results and performances are improving and I know it is in my own hands. But I am working really hard. I can average 110 one match and 88 in the next half an hour later. It is frustrating but I am feeling good about things again.”
A place in the top 32 is well within his reach.
For Brown, a spot inside the world’s top 50 while he is still semi-pro, juggling work with darts, would be a terrific achievement.
“For me, darts is a marathon not a sprint. If results don’t go my way I won’t get disheartened. I am getting valuable experience and to play on the big TV stages at the World Championship and Grand Slam is taking the next big step for me!"
With six Pro Tour events remaining before the cut off for the World Championship, the No.1 target for Cullen is to book his place back at the Ally Pally in December…..and he is currently holding one of those all important qualifying spots through the Pro Tour Order of Merit.
Unicorn Managing Director Edward Lowy is determined to continue investing in the future of the sport.
“We are delighted to continue out association with Keegan and Joe. At Unicorn we seek to build relationships with players that endure the highs and lows of life on the oche.”
He added: “Between all our players currently, Team Unicorn have an amazing 239 years of Tungsten Teamwork. A fact we are very proud of. We wish Joe and Keegan all the very best in the months and years to come and look forward to being of continued service."
The new contracts for Cullen and Brown come on top of a new three-year deal for Devon Petersen.
Meanwhile youngster Jack Warner has also signed a new deal…..regarded as a star of the future, the 14-year-old Generation 180 ace will be with Unicorn for at least another three years.
